Efficient TEM(00)-mode operation of a laser-diode side-pumped Nd:YAG laser.

چکیده

We report operation of a laser-diode side-pumped Nd: YAG laser with a novel pumping geometry that ensures efficient conversion of pump energy into the TEM(00) mode. Of the 1064-nm output, 11.8 mJ of energy was obtained in a 200-micros pulse with 64 mJ of pump energy at 808 nm. The overall conversion and slope efficiencies were 18% and 23%, respectively.

We describe the laser performance and thermal properties of side-pumped Nd:YAG rod lasers that use ibercoupled diode lasers as pump sources. Continuous-wave mode-locked Nd:glass laser pumped by a laser diode.

We have demonstrated a diode-laser-pumped, cw, mode-locked Nd:glass laser oscillator. With a 0.5% output coupler the pump threshold for mode-locked operation was 22.9 mW. The mode-locked pulse width was shorter than 36.5 psec, which was the response time of the fast photodiode and the sampling oscilloscope. We report on a diode-pumped Tm:KYW microchip laser generating 1 W continuous-wave output power. The laser operates at a wavelength of 1.94 μm in the fundamental TEM(00) mode with 71% slope efficiency relative to the absorbed pump radiation and 59% slope efficiency relative to the incident pump radiation. The optical-to-optical laser efficiency is 43%.
